Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Access Floor?

An ASP Floors general office system conceals and manages communications, electrical and mechanical services, yet remains flexible enough to adapt quickly to changing hardware and office furniture layouts. ASP Floors systems have been designed for exceptional strength, durability and comfortable solid feel underfoot .

Initial installation is faster whilst future changes in floor height or re-levelling can be carried out with minimum disruption to staff. Floor systems are available in a variety of panels with different load ratings - see Product Tables. Understructure options are provided for stability and accessibility to the under floor cavity.

The ability to control air distribution, makes our systems ideal for modern computer room, media and communication facilities.

What are they made of ... ?

ASP Floors have two main components, the floor panels and the understructure system which holds them in place.

We install two types of panels - structural wood core and steel cementitious infill (steel/concrete core), and we mount these panels using either a "rigid grid" system or an "ultra fix / freeform" system or other arrangements.

Panels come either with a "bare" or "laminated" finish, complementing the chosen understructure.

Materials can be bonded or laid onto the bare panels. A range of panels are manufactured and certified to carry different loads and to perform best for different sets of conditions.

Our principle understructure systems, use different pedestals and fittings and allow different clearance heights above the original surface. For the more heavily loaded and higher clearance systems, we use Rigid Grid systems and for others, we use Ultra Freeform for wood core panels, and Ultra Fix for steel cementitious panels. We are happy to help you choose the appropriate floor for your application.

What finishes are available ... ?

Panels come in two finishes, HPL , high pressure laminate or "bare". Typically, in general office space, bare panels resting on and Ultra Freeform understructure, would be chosen to allow covering with the client's choice of carpet or vinyl, whilst in computer rooms, where heavy loads may be experienced and anti-static is a requirement, the laminated surface fitted to a Rigid Grid understructure is appropriate. The laminated panels have a high abrasion resistance and are well suited for being subjected to rolling loads.
